At Kirei we fall in love with pearls in each of their many forms and variants. We can classify them according to their origin: natural, cultivated, freshwater and saltwater.
But let's go into more detail. In addition to its origin we can find the following varieties:
- South Sea pearls (Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines) whose oysters only produce one pearl in their entire life.
- Tahitian pearls that are usually gray or black in color and occur in the areas of Polynesia, Mexico and Panama. These oysters only produce two pearls throughout their life.
- Akoya pearls (Japan, China, Vietnam and Thailand) that require prior treatment to form and whose shades range from blue to light gray.
- Mabe pearls known because they do not form a complete sphere and are made up of the union of nacre and shell.
- Baroque pearls whose shape is irregular due to a gas that causes the nacre to bulge, producing that characteristic shape.
- Keshi pearls composed entirely of mother-of-pearl and also with a very characteristic irregular shape.
Without a doubt, pearls are timeless and for this reason our next collection, autumn/winter 23-24, will be very inspired by them. Soon you will be able to get to know some of these varieties up close.
